With major civil works now underway on the Fanga’uta Lagoon Crossing Project, McConnell Dowell is seeking an experienced Machine Operator to join our team in Tonga. You will play a key role in safely and efficiently operating plant and equipment to support the successful delivery of this landmark infrastructure project. This is a swing-based role Tonga/Homebase, offering the chance to work on a project that will connect, support, and sustain the local community.

About the Role
As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for operating site machinery and equipment in line with project requirements, safety standards, and environmental expectations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operating machinery including excavators and graders.
- Ensuring all work complies with quality, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Conducting daily pre-start checks and attending toolbox meetings.
- Identifying hazards and reporting them promptly to supervisors.
- Assisting with labouring and general site activities when required.
- Reporting mechanical or electrical faults as soon as they arise.
About You
We’re looking for a motivated, reliable operator with a strong commitment to safety and quality.
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience operating machinery on civil construction projects.
- Current driver licences and WTR endorsements (or equivalent).
- Strong commitment to safety and quality.
- Clear verbal communication and ability to work well within a team.
- Motivated, reliable, and able to support project targets and schedules.
- Experience with operating a grader.
