Yarrawonga Health is seeking dedicated and detail-oriented Cleaners to join our Environmental Services team. Key Responsibilities

Cleaning and Sanitising:

  • Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
  • Disinfect and sanitize surfaces in patient rooms, common areas, and other designated areas.
  • Pay special attention to high-touch surfaces and areas prone to contamination.

Waste Management:

  • Collect and dispose of waste and recyclables according to hospital protocols.
  • Ensure proper handling of biohazardous materials.

Infection Control:

  • Follow established infection control procedures to prevent the spread of infections within the hospital.

Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively with other members of the environmental services team to ensure a cohesive and efficient cleaning process.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and staff regarding specific cleaning requirements.

Safety Compliance:

  • Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to maintain a secure work environment.
  • Report any safety hazards or incidents to the supervisor.

Key Selection Criteria

We’re looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:

Essential:

  • Must be able to work all shifts, including weekly, afternoon, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Computer skills at a basic level.
  • Understanding of confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of people.
  • Self-motivated with a high level of communication and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work alone.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in cleaning, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting and moving equipment.
